The Urdu script and Abdul Quddus Hashmi's stance on it
Abstract
Molana Abdul Quddos Hashmi was an expert of Urdu language and literature. He provide answers of many questions about script of Urdu language. According to him Urdu is not language of any religion but it is language of whole Indian society. Script of any language depended upon the needs of concern language. The Arabic Script of Urdu is not a sign of affiliation of this language with Muslims or Islam but it is due to its needs. It is not fair to change the script of any language only because of social pressure. The two forms of Urdu script that are prevalent are Naskh and Nastaliq. In case of change in script in Urdu language there will be many problems for people.
